Constructed in 1927 for the Ursuline Academy, serving children and later becoming a boarding school for high school level girls, it changed its mission again in 1971 to serve as a convent and Mother House for the Ursuline Sisters of Paola, Kansas.
The five story, 63,000 SF, concrete and masonry structure was completely remodeled in 2001 to provide for modern single occupancy rooms with individual bathrooms and to make the facility compliant with the current Americans with Disabilities Act and with Building and Life Safety Codes. The mechanical and electrical system was upgraded, office areas were remodeled and the overall building from the lower level to the top floor was given a face lift.
The facility was completed in phases to allow for occupancy and continued operations during the entire remodeling process.
